Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. She was born December 13, 1989 in Pennsylvania's West Reading. Swift has been a pop/country singer-songwriter for the past 20 years. Swift's stories of romantic love in the midst of heartbreak and young love have gained her widespread popularity throughout the 21st century. Swift had a passion for music from an early time. She quickly moved up the ranks, beginning by playing roles in the theater for children and then performing before a huge crowd. Swift was just 11 when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match. In the following year Swift began to write songs, and also picked up the guitar. Swift became inspired to create her own music by the music of country genre such as Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks. When she was 13 Swift's parents decided to sell their property in Pennsylvania in order to relocate to Hendersonville Tennessee so she could dedicate more time in courting the country music labels within the vicinity of Nashville.
