Chelsea Joy Handler is a New Jersey native born in Livingston on 25 February 1975. She was the youngest of six children from her family. Handler was the daughter of a car saleman and a homewife. Handler aged 21, decided to focus on stand-up comedians in full-time after gaining confidence in her storytelling. The beginning of her career Handler began her journey as a member of the Oxygen network all-female cast for an undiscovered camera/practical joke reality TV series Girls Behaving Badly. The show ran on air from 2002 to 2005. The handler then began appearing on other TV shows such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began working on The Tonight Show as a reporter. Handler's big break came in 2006, when she was able to host her own show on E! It was called The Chelsea Handler Show. The Chelsea Handler Show ran for 2 seasons. Following the show, Handler performed on the Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States. The stand-up shows she has performed have been aired by VH1, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, and HBO. In 2010, it was announced that she would be hosting MTV's Video Music Awards in 2010.
